There is excellent connection to Kiev from both London Heathrow and London Gatwick with British Airways and Ukraine International Airlines on daily basis. A regular flight is operated from Birmingham. Some low cost airlines are rumored to open the Kiev route soon.
You are allowed to bring up to 1 000 USD (around 500 £) in cash and the custom laws are similar to UK. Use the Green corridor if you are not bringing extensive cash and you have nothing to declare.
